George Kaiser is to Oklahoma what Warren Buffett is to Nebraska. After attending Harvard for both his undergraduate and MBA studies, Kaiser returned to his family home in Tulsa, OK, to work at his father’s company, the Kaiser-Francis Oil Co, eventually taking over control of the company from his father in 1969. In 1990, Kaiser bought the Bank of Oklahoma from the FDIC and propelled his net worth to the List of Billionaires in one fell swoop.
Kaiser is also one of America’s leading philanthropist, giving immense contributions to numerous Oklahoma foundations, some of which he is the founder.
He has also signed The Giving Pledge along with fellow billionaires Bill Gates, Warren Buffett and others who have all promised to donate at least half their net worth to charity.
