Andrew Beal grew up in Lansing, MI. The son of a mechanical engineer, Beal eventually attended Michigan State University for a degree in Mathematics. When he was 19, he bought his first property in Lansing. He went on to purchase, renovate and sell for profit many properties in the area, eventually using his success to place a winning bid on a property in Waco, TX in 1976, the same year he began attending Baylor University.
In 1988, Beal founded Beal Bank. The bank has been consistently higher producing than its competitors and a primary reason why Beal has earned a spot in the List of Billionaires.
Beal is also well-known for his role as a self-taught number theorist. He has even founded a prize named after his own hypothesis on Fermat’s Last Theorem, known as the Beal Conjecture. Anyone able to prove or disprove his conjecture will win a $1,000,000 reward.
