Amancio Ortega is the founder of Inditex, a Spanish fashion conglomerate controlling over 100 different brands, including Zara, Pull and Bear, Massimo Dutti and many more. From humble beginnings as an assistant to a shirtmaker in Gala, Spain, Ortega went on to open numerous clothing retail stores. He eventually expanded his business and turned his success into one of the largest personal fortunes in the world. He has been ranked as both the third and even first wealthiest person in the world, a very secure position on the List of Billionaires.
Now in his late 70s, Ortega has been famous for avoiding media coverage, granting only a handful of interviews ever. In fact, when he made a public appearance as part of the promotion of Initex’s initial public offering, it made headlines throughout his home country.
