Aliko Dangote is the richest man in Africa. His Dangote Group operates industries throughout the African continent. It is the largest industrial group in Nigeria, controlling Dangote Cement, Dangote Flour, Dangote Cement and many others. Dangote Sugar Refinery, in particular, is one of the most lucrative of Dangote’s ventures. It supplies 70% of all the sugar in the country and is the third-largest sugar refinery in the world.
Born into an affluent Islamic family in northern Nigeria, he went on to graduate with a degree in business from Al-Azhar University in Cairo. His business acumen eventually led to his earning of a place on the List of Billionaires.
In 2011, Dangote was given the honor of Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger, the country’s second-highest award.
