Alexey Kuzmichev is a Russian businessman whose net worth is estimated by Forbes as $8.2 billion, making him the 17th richest man in Russia and the 138th in the world as of March 2013. During his time spent at the Moscow Institute of Steel and Alloys, he met his future partners Mikhail Fridman and German Khan. The three billionaires, along with other investors, founded the Alfa Group Consortium, which holds stake in oil, gas, telecom and food retail companies.
In addition to achieving a spot on the List of Billionaires through his investing pursuits, Kuzmichev devotes time to his art interests. The Babylon Project, a program founded by Kuzmichev in 2002, focuses on the international preservation of ancient Iranian art. The organization has mainly reached out to governments to help protect the ruins of the ancient city of Babylon located near Hillah as well as an initiative to restore the National Museum of Iraq in Baghdad, which suffered mass looting in 2003.
